Hi, I’m Amber Alvarez: Hairstylist, creative entrepreneur, and your resident safe space curator.
I opened Luna Hair Studio in San Antonio nearly a decade ago with a vision: to create more than just a salon. I wanted to build a space where people could not only transform their hair, but feel seen, heard, and held. A space where vivid colors, deep conversations, healing laughter, and soft reboots happen all at once.
As a color specialist, I’ve spent 12 years mastering everything from blonding and balayage to vivid color transformations and corrective work. I love the artistry behind hair, but even more, I love the stories we share in the chair. Because this work isn’t just about looks: it’s about identity, visibility, and reclaiming how we show up in the world.
I’m also the host of the “Amber Talks Too Much” podcast, a passion project turned powerful platform where I explore life, business, culture, and healing through the lens of storytelling. From podcast episodes to client conversations, I believe in turning vulnerability into power and turning every shade on the hair or in our lives, into a bold expression of self.
My chair is open to everyone, especially those who’ve ever felt like they had to shrink themselves to fit in. Luna Hair Studio is Latina-owned, LGBTQ+ affirming, and intentionally designed for connection, creativity, and community.

Every appointment is one-on-one and tailored with care. Whether you're dreaming of a transformation or looking to maintain your signature look, new clients begin with a virtual or in-person consultation so I can get to know your hair history, goals, and give you an accurate quote with no surprises.
